Description
Regulation (EU) 2022/1925 (the “Digital Markets Act” or “DMA”) is one of the first regulatory tools to comprehensively regulate the gatekeeper power of the largest digital companies and make digital markets fairer and more contestable.
The view of third parties is crucial to assess that gatekeepers’ compliance with the DMA is effective, that technical and contractual solutions are practicable and transparent, and that they ultimately deliver benefits, choice, and opportunities to third parties and to society as a whole. The European Commission is committed to these objectives.
On 5 September 2023, the Commission designated Alphabet as a gatekeeper in relation to Google Play, Google Maps, Google Shopping, Google Search, YouTube, Google Android, Alphabet’s online advertising service and Google Chrome. Alphabet has to comply with all the obligations provided for in Articles 5, 6 and 7 of the DMA as from 7 March 2024 and has to publish annual compliance reports explaining in detail the compliance solutions for each applicable DMA obligation.
In March 2024, the Commission organised a series of compliance workshops, which followed up on the 2024 compliance reports by the gatekeepers.
This year the Commission is organising a new series of public workshops to provide interested parties with the possibility to ask for clarifications and to give feedback on the compliance solutions published in the 2025 compliance reports, including any changes that may have taken place in relation to specific compliance measures since the last compliance reports.
Framework of the workshop and practical issues
The agenda will be available soon.
This workshop will take place in Brussels on Tuesday 1 July 2025 timetable tbc.
The exact location and rules for the Q&A will be communicated at a later stage. You can attend in person or participate online.
Due to capacity constraints, the number of participants that can be present in the room will be limited. The deadline to register to attend the workshop in person is on 16 June 2025, at 12h00 CET. Participants having registered to attend in person will be informed whether their request can be accommodated by 18 June 2025. If their request cannot be accommodated, they will automatically be registered to attend online. All participants following the workshop online will receive a link by 20 June 2025.
The workshop will take place in English. No interpretation will be provided.
