Description
Regulation (EU) 2022/1925 (the “Digital Markets Act” or “DMA”) is one of the first regulatory tools to comprehensively regulate the gatekeeper power of the largest digital companies, and make digital markets fairer and more contestable.
The view of third parties is crucial to assess that gatekeepers’ compliance with the DMA is effective, that technical and contractual solutions are practicable and transparent and ultimately that they deliver benefits, choice and opportunities to third parties and to society as a whole. The European Commission is committed to these objectives.
On 5 September 2023, the Commission designated Microsoft as a gatekeeper in relation to Windows PC OS and LinkedIn. Microsoft has to comply with all the obligations provided for in Articles 5, 6 and 7 of the DMA as from 7 March 2024. On the same day, Microsoft will publish its compliance report explaining in detail the compliance solutions adopted for each of the relevant DMA obligations. This public version of the compliance report will also be available on the DMA website.
The European Commission is organising a workshop to provide interested parties with the possibility to ask for clarifications and to give feedback on the proposed compliance solutions.
Framework of the workshop and practical issues
This workshop will take place in Brussels on 26 March 2024 from 13:00 to 18:00 hours (CET).
The exact location and rules for the Q&A will be communicated at a later stage. You can attend in person or participate online.
Due to capacity constraints, the number of participants that can be present in the room will be limited. Therefore, physical participation is prioritised for representatives of Microsoft, business users of Microsoft’s designated core platform services and associations which represent a large number of stakeholders, including civil society representatives such as human rights and consumer protection associations. Participation in the room will be limited to one representative per entity/organisation. Other attendees, including journalists, consultants, external lawyers, and academics or students, are invited to join the workshop online.
The deadline to register to attend the workshop in person is on 14 March 2024, at 12h00 CET. Participants having registered to attend in person will be informed whether their request can be accommodated by 15 March 2024. If their request cannot be accommodated, they will automatically be registered to attend online. All participants following the workshop online will receive a link by 22 March 2024.
The workshop will take place in English. No interpretation will be provided.
